Texas A&M Announces 2017 Tradition Of Excellence Award Winners

Tradition of Excellence Award winners were honored at the Thomas G. Hildebrand, CVM ʼ56 Equine Complex on May 18.

Twelve Texas A&M University staff members and one staff team received Tradition of Excellence Awards from the Division of Academic Affairs at a ceremony and social held at the Thomas G. Hildebrand, CVM ʼ56 Equine Complex on May 18.

Ten individuals earned awards in recognition of their distinguished dedication, initiative, attitude and outstanding achievement at the university. The recipients include Mark Garner, client technologies analyst with Instructional Media Services; Karen Lepley, financial aid advisor with Scholarships & Financial Aid; Melanie Monroe, associate registrar, Laura Ann Heard, associate registrar, and Matthew Johnson, assistant registrar, all with the Office of the Registrar; Kasandra Phillips, associate director with Dallas Admissions Recruitment; Jennifer Kuehn, senior administrative coordinator with the Office of Admissions; Jennifer Ann Scasta, senior career coordinator with the Career Center; Nancy Vazquez, writing consultant with the University Writing Center; and Georgia Hines, assistant to the assistant provost for Undergraduate Studies.

Gayla Christiansen, marketing manager with the Texas A&M University Press, was the recipient of the Tradition of Excellence Leadership Award for distinguished leadership through dedication, flexibility, initiative, transparency, attitude and outstanding achievement at Texas A&M.

The Tradition of Excellence Diversity and Inclusion Award, recognizing distinguished contributions to improving climate through community building, broadening perspectives and outstanding achievement at Texas A&M, was earned by Amanda Johnson, administrative coordinator with Public Partnership & Outreach.

The 2017 Admissions Customer Service Team with the Office of Admissions earned the Tradition of Excellence Staff Team Award in recognition of distinguished teamwork through dedication, initiative, attitude and outstanding achievement. Team members include Stephanie Love, administrative coordinator; Mike Pickett, program coordinator; Angela Reinecke, customer service associate; Steve Smith, administrative coordinator; Betty Steckman, customer service associate; and Debbie Turner, customer service associate.

The Tradition of Excellence Awards recognize superior service by employees in the associate and assistant provosts’ offices and their units, the University Libraries and the Faculty Senate.
