One Man’s Inspiring Progress Leads To Vital Gift For Another
Sean Carter was declared paralyzed after a drunk driving accident in 2005. His mother, Jenny, was told Sean had a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and to “hope for the best” in his recovery.
Over the years, Sean began to make progress and was determined to get out of his wheelchair. In the summer of 2016, Sean gave up his wheelchair for a walker. Due to other work with Texas A&M University, Sean’s mother had heard about the PATHS Program in the College of Education and Human Development. She made a call to the PATHS Program to see if there was a need for the wheelchair.
The timing could not have been better. A PATHS student, Roy, was in need of a new wheelchair. A couple of weeks later, the exchange happened. Roy and Sean were not able to meet during the exchange, but we were there when they met for the first time a few weeks later.
Sean and his mom travel the country to raise awareness about impaired driving. Sean speaks with the aid of a computer.
