Liberal Arts Cadet Named Student Regent

Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed political science major Gabriel Pereira’16 of College Station as student regent for the Texas A&M University System.

“Receiving the appointment as student regent for the Texas A&M University System is an honor and a privilege, carrying with it the significant responsibility of representing the entire student body of the Texas A&M System,” said Pereira, who is also a member of the Corps of Cadets. “I am elated to have received the appointment, and I am prepared to work hard toward fulfilling my obligation to the university system.”

A student regent has the same powers and duties as the members of the Texas A&M Board of Regents, with the exception of voting.
