TAMUmobileJust in time for the back-to-school season, Texas A&M University updates TAMUmobile apps, its suite of free mobile applications for the iPhone and Blackberry, with popular campus information for students on the go.

The five new sub-applications include:

  • Library – Students can click “Ask a Librarian” and speak to a campus librarian with just one tap on their phone.
  • Dining – Quick access to locations and hours of on-campus dining options helps students who want to grab a meal between classes or take a study break.
  • Images – From photos of former presidents to iconic Aggie images, users can search, browse and download popular images from the university collections and the George Bush Presidential Library & Museum.
  • Get Help – Students can tap a phone list of useful and important Texas A&M phone numbers, such as campus police and student counseling, and place a call on the go.
  • Bus Routes – Students can get off- and on-campus bus routes and service times for the bus they want to catch.

In June 2009, Texas A&M rolled out TAMUmobile apps as a suite of free mobile applications geared toward providing information about the university – to go. What previously took several clicks on the university’s web site is now integrated into a mobile package that also includes a campus directory, campus news, athletic updates and TAMUtv, which will allow access to university and student videos.

TAMUmobile apps are available for the iPhone or Touch iPod devices and the Blackberry as a free download at http://www.tamu.edu/mobile/. Android users can access these services through TAMUmobile Web at http://m.tamu.edu/.

TAMUmobile Apps is a joint initiative between the Division of Marketing & Communications and several campus departments including Aggie Athletics and the Office of the Registrar.
