Division Of Facilities Organizational Changes
February 23, 2010
MEMORANDUM
TO: Distribution A
FROM: Dr. R. Bowen Loftin
President
SUBJECT: Division of Facilities Organizational Changes
The campus of Texas A&M University is currently in the midst of dramatic change, with many new large-scale construction projects having been recently completed or currently underway. As I have stated on many occasions over the past several months, we cannot afford to neglect our existing buildings and infrastructure as our campus continues to expand. This will be an area of critical importance for me as President of Texas A&M and for all members of the Aggie Family.
In response to the recent budget reduction process, we will begin a strategic reassessment of the Division of Facilities and how it serves the university community. Additionally, as part of placing a greater emphasis on our existing campus buildings and infrastructure, I will be creating the position of Senior Vice President for Administration, to which the Division of Facilities will report in the future. A search process for this important position will be defined and a search committee named in the very near future.
Mr. Charles Sippial, current Vice President for Facilities, will transition into the position of Special Assistant to the Chief Facilities Planning and Construction Officer for The Texas A&M University System. In this role, Mr. Sippial will work on topics related to construction project management for A&M System member campuses. As many of you know, Mr. Sippial has served Texas A&M in a variety of capacities over many years. Please join me in thanking Chuck for his many contributions to Texas A&M and in wishing him the best in his new role.
During this interim period, the Division of Facilities will report directly to the President’s Office through Chief of Staff Dr. Alex Kemos, with Executive Associate Vice President Ms. Lallah Howard overseeing the day-to-day operations of the division.
