The Continuing and Professional Studies Office is offering an SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) “test prep,” beginning Monday, Jan. 26.

Organizers say the course prepares students for the exam by reviewing the academic skills tested and teaching test-taking strategies that will help them use their time to their best advantage. Participants prepare for this prep program beforehand by taking the four-hour practice test online with ETS which is analyzed by the instructor.

The prep course consists of seven 3-hour evening classes on Mondays ending on Mar. 9. Class size is limited to 20 students. The fee, which includes all materials, is $595.

“Research shows that the single most effective method of preparing for the SAT is through private programs such as this one,” notes Cody Blair, course instructor and National Merit Scholar. “Students need guided practice with a knowledgeable and experienced expert to really maximize their SAT score,” he adds. “Having taught SAT and GRE prep courses for over seven years now, I have seen students improve their scores by as much as 340 points using the methods I teach. Those results are exceptional, but increases of 140 to 150 points are common.”
