On Monday and Tuesday (March 31-April 1) Texas A&M officials will welcome 35 exceptional high school counselors to campus as part of the 2008 Very Important Counselor program.

While on campus, organizers say the group will attend a recognition dinner with guest speakers J. Martyn Gunn and Tito Guerrero III, visit the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum and tour the campus.

The counselors, called VIC Partners, are nominated by staff from the Office of Admissions and Records, the University Honors Program and Scholarships & Financial Aid for their service to Texas A&M and its Regional Prospective Student Centers. Each VIC Partner also nominates an outstanding student from their high school to receive a $1,000 scholarship to Texas A&M.

The Very Important Counselor program was established in 2005 to recognize remarkable high school counselors who demonstrate leadership, commitment and excellence in their profession and in their support of student access to higher education.
