At Texas A&M, our mission is to provide students with the highest quality programs and transformative experiences inside and outside of the classroom in order to prepare each individual for roles of responsibility in service to society. We have outstanding faculty and staff who mentor and support our students in this regard and a student body that demonstrates a firm commitment to discovery, innovation and service. It is an honor to witness this daily. The efforts of those across our great university are being recognized more than ever nationally, further enhancing the strength and reputation of our world-class university.

An Unrivaled Return On Investment

At a time when many are questioning the value of a college degree – and increasingly willing to consider alternative academic options beyond the traditional four-year school – Texas A&M is leaving no room for doubt. We arm students with the skills and experience necessary to meet the growing expectations of an evolving workplace. Texas A&M tops Fortune’s List of 100 CEOs, with Aggies holding the highest corporate position at four of the largest, publicly traded companies in the country – a number that competes only with the University of Michigan for most Fortune 500 CEOs in the country, and the most of any university in Texas. And Money Magazine ranked Texas A&M No. 8 nationally for “Best Public Colleges for Big Paychecks.” These rankings and more affirm the value we deliver for workplace preparation and lifelong career success.

On the access and affordability front, Texas A&M has been recognized for our commitment to economic diversity, and for delivering an unrivaled ROI. Texas A&M ranked No. 34 for “Best Colleges for Your Money” by Money Magazine; No. 21 for “Best Value Schools” by U.S. News & World Report; and No. 25 in a New York Times survey of “Top Colleges Doing the Most for the American Dream.”

An Education That Is Second To None

Across all fields of study, Texas A&M exhibits an exceptional commitment to providing students with an academic experience that is second to none. We remain the school of choice for tens of thousands of students each year – a testament to the caliber of a Texas A&M education and the strength of the Aggie Network.  Schools.com ranked Texas A&M No. 2 in its list of “Best Schools of 2017,” and the university posts a graduation rate in the education website’s top five schools nationally. Texas A&M was also recognized by Money Magazine as the No. 20 “Best Public School” and No. 34 out of more than 700 schools overall. We are considered among the best national universities for veterans, and our undergraduate engineering program competes in the top echelon of similar programs of its kind, ranking No. 16 on a U.S. News & World Report list.

Significant Impact, Starting At Home

Texas A&M champions higher education’s vital role in contributing to society in meaningful ways. Through purpose-driven research and groundbreaking discoveries, the university demonstrates strong connections between the work that is conducted here and the impact of that research in the state of Texas and communities across the globe. Research conducted at Texas A&M represented annual expenditures of more than $892.7 million in fiscal year 2016. Texas A&M ranked in the top 20 of the National Science Foundation’s Higher Education Research and Development survey (2015), based on expenditures of more than $866.6 million in fiscal year 2015.

I am deeply proud of our accomplishments and grateful to our deans, faculty, staff and students who make them possible. The Aggie Spirit leads us to continue our pursuit of excellence on all fronts, including a commitment to the success of each other, to research and discovery, and to service to the state of Texas, our nation and the world.
