Aggie students will show their appreciation for Texas A&M University’s hard-working custodians with the Custodian Banquet on Monday, April 24 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the MSC Bethancourt Ballroom. This event, organized by the Student Government Association (SGA), is held at the end of each school year for the custodial workers of SSC Facilities Services to say thank you for all of their hard work throughout the year.

Freshman Madeleine Williams serves on the SGA custodian banquet committee and says the banquet is, “a great opportunity for students to visit with the custodians and tell them how much their work has meant to them during their time at Texas A&M. The event was started 11 years ago by a group of Fish Aides who recognized a need for an opportunity to acknowledge the custodial workers.” Madeleine and her three committee members say they’ve been working hard to plan the event.

SSC’s Custodial Services management team members say they are extremely grateful to the SGA for going above and beyond to thank their employees. Assistant Manager Madlene Maxwell states, “The students go out of their way to make the event exciting by playing music, having a theme or just doing things to make our staff laugh. They put a lot of thought into planning this banquet and they are very appreciative of what we as custodial associates do every day, nonstop. Our custodial associates are just as appreciative of our students and we feel that Texas A&M has the best students in the world!”

SGA organizers say they would love to see as many students as possible attend this year’s banquet to provide custodians the recognition they deserve. It is a come and go event, so students can feel free to stop by between classes, or stay the entire time.
