The Moss family
It was not until 1991, they say, that fate would bring them together. While living in Birmingham, Ala., Rodney noticed a car with a Century Club decal and left with the hopes that the owner would participate in Aggie Muster with him. Shelly, after much deliberation, responded to the note and agreed to meet. As the story goes, Rodney and Shelly met for Aggie Muster that year and have been together ever since.
In addition to their degrees at Texas A&M, Rodney and Shelly earned their law degrees from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University. Shelly is actively involved in service organizations in the Southlake area and serves as the director of admissions at an academic institution. Rodney currently works with a global insurance and risk management corporation. While the Moss’ will not officially begin their role until April 7, the announcement was moved up this year so that the incoming Parents of the Year’s schedule can be more accommodating to Family Weekend events.
Members of the Family Weekend Committee say they would like to extend a warm thank you to Dean and Glenda Schneider for serving as 2016-2017 Parents of the Year. Throughout this past year, the Schneiders have served their role as Parents of the Year with dignity and enthusiasm, say committee members, noting their generosity and embodiment of the Aggie Spirit.
Family Weekend began in 1919 to honor Aggie Moms, and since has evolved to honor Aggie Parents and Families. It has become an annual spring celebration with activities such as the annual Aggie Moms’ Boutique, concerts by the Singing Cadets, athletic events, and Family Weekend’s newest event — Aggie Family Game Night.
