The President’s Book of SecretsThe George Bush Presidential Library Foundation will host a lecture by Dr. David Priess, author of The President’s Book of Secrets: The Untold Story of Intelligence Briefings to America’s Presidents from Kennedy to Obama, on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center at The Bush Center on Texas A&M University campus.

The event is sponsored by The George Bush Presidential Library Foundation and the Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs at the Bush School of Government and Public Service.

Each day, the President receives a top secret briefing, the President’s Daily Brief, containing everything from the behavior of America’s allies to the plans of its adversaries, from imminent dangers to long-term strategic opportunities. Priess’ book contains 50 years of stories about these briefings and carries a foreword from George H.W. Bush.

Priess, who served in the CIA during the Bill Clinton and George W. Bush administrations, gained unprecedented access to the history of the President’s Daily Brief, conducting hundreds of interviews and digging through oral histories, memoirs, and declassified intelligence reports to tell the story of this top secret report.

The event will feature a panel discussion with several former members of the CIA: James Olson, a senior lecturer at the Bush School who served for more than 25 years as directorate of operations for the CIA; Richard Kerr, former CIA deputy director; and Carmen Medina, former CIA deputy director of intelligence.

This event requires RSVP by Oct. 12 by contacting 979-862-2251 or BushEvents@Bush41.org.
