Responding to continued growth in the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets, two units will be reactivated Friday (Aug. 26) for the new school year — the 10th and 11th such outfits to be reactivated within the past five years.

Squadron 5, popularly known as the “Filthy Fifth,” will be formally reactivated at 10 a.m., with similar ceremonies set for Company G-1, called the “Ramblin’ Rogues,” at 2 p.m. — with both events to be held at the Sanders Corps of Cadets Center.

Both ceremonies will include presentation of the outfits’ guidons, comments by the commandant of the Corps of Cadets, Brigadier General Joe Ramirez (U.S. Army-Ret,), former members of the outfits, and the units’ new commanding officers. Receptions will be held following both ceremonies.

General Ramirez encourages all former members of the two reactivated units to attend. “These will be significant events for all current and former members of both outfits, and we encourage as many former members of both outfits as possible to attend,” he said.
