Texas A&M students, faculty and staff now have the opportunity for added service and safety support when out on streets and highways, thanks to a new agreement between the university’s Transportation Services and a firm established by an Aggie parent that provides roadside assistance.

Transportation Services has entered into an agreement with Aggieland Auto Club, a subsidiary trademark of RoadClubs.com, the firm founded and directed by Jimmy Mercer, who has more than 20 years of experience in the automotive industry.

Peter Lange, Transportation Services executive director, said the new agreement underscores the university’s continuing priority concern for service and safety for students, faculty and staff.

“We are always looking for ways to improve our service to our campus community,” Lange said. “Aggieland Auto Club helps us help Aggies by bringing them assistance at a great low price when and where they need it throughout the United States, its territories and Canada.”

Mercer cited his Aggie connections and extensive experience in auto-related service.

“As a proud parent of three Aggie students and an automotive industry executive for over 22 years, I discovered the need for a more complete, safe, secure and convenient way to provide motorist assistance or roadside assistance services, on campus, off campus, and on road trips, for university faculty, staff, students, and their families, alike,” Mercer said.
