College Colors DayThe nationwide College Colors Day celebration leading up to the start of football season this year includes the inaugural College Colors Challenge. Embracing the challenge, Texas A&M University officials are encouraging Aggies to get involved as only they can — and especially to turn out big in maroon on Sept. 4, the day before the Texas A&M football team’s first game this fall.

“Aggies are recognized around the world for the great pride and tradition we carry for Texas A&M,” said Shane Hinckley, the university’s interim vice president for marketing & communications. “In addition to supporting the new College Colors Challenge, we know Aggies are going to proudly wear their favorite maroon apparel on College Colors Day in this celebration of spirit.”

The College Colors Challenge is a new twist to help celebrate the excitement of the start of the 2015 college football season by featuring fan-generated photos and videos on social media. Fans are encouraged to flaunt their colors and express their school spirit in a variety of ways. Aggie fans are encouraged to visit CollegeColorsChallenge.com for full competition details.

The challenges revolve around three categories represented by the hashtags: #SQUADPIC (large group), #FAMPHOTO (family), and #SELFIE (individual).

The first round of challenges has already launched, and the winners will be announced on CollegeColorsChallenge.com on Sept. 4.

The grand prize winner will receive round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations and two tickets to the national championship game in Glendale, Ariz., courtesy of CLC and the College Football Playoff. Each month during the college football season, three new challenges will be issued for chances to win prizes, including two more opportunities to win two tickets to the national championship game.

College Colors Day, created by the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), which represents the trademark licensing programs of more than 150 of the nation’s leading universities, is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience. Fans across the United States are encouraged to wear the apparel of their favorite college or university throughout the day. College Colors Day is celebrated by thousands of organizations, retailers, classrooms and millions of individuals who don their team colors and share their school spirit with friends and colleagues.
