The Texas A&M Foundation Maroon Coats have elected Cameron Blizzard of Houston to serve as the next Maroon Coat president.

A select group of highly involved student leaders at Texas A&M University, the Maroon Coats serve as the student ambassadors of the Texas A&M Foundation. The group enhances the impact of the foundation through stewardship and service. Their duties include interacting with donors at special events, providing a student perspective during fundraising meetings, writing thank you notes to donors, and hosting donors or friends of the foundation on campus visits.

As part of an executive council that comprises four Maroon Coats, Blizzard will serve as president in the 2015-2016 academic year. In his role, he will lead executive council meetings, guide the selections process for Maroon Coat prospects, facilitate training and increase campus awareness about the group.

“I am thankful for being elected into this position,” said Blizzard. “Serving as president is akin to any student thanking a donor. It is an opportunity to express gratitude and lead forth a group that is so dear to me.”

Former Maroon Coat President Deanna Bosse said that the leadership selections continue to reflect the Maroon Coats organization’s trend of overall excellence.

“Every year during the selections process, the quality of our applicant pool increases, and the new Executive Council follows that trend,” said Bosse. “I am very excited to hand over the reins to Cameron and the new Executive Council and cannot wait to come back as a former Maroon Coat and see the success they will create.”

Cameron Blizzard will graduate in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in business honors from the Mays Business School.

The other newly elected members of the Executive Council are:

  • Vice President: Layeeka Ismail, a junior business honors and accounting major from Houston.
  • Director of External Affairs: Lauren Friend, a junior agricultural economics major from Tulare, California.
  • Director of Internal Affairs: Linda D’Arezzo, a junior marketing major from Brentwood, Tennessee.
