TAMUTexas A&M University is listed as a “best buy” in the 2014 edition of the Fiske Guide to Colleges, a publication created by former New York Times higher education editor Edward B. Fiske and which is now in its 30th year of issuing annual assessments of college and universities.

The new edition of the guide includes separate “best buy” lists for public and private institutions in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Texas A&M is cited as one of 21 “best buy” public institutions, with the guide’s editors noting all of those included “fall into the inexpensive or moderate price category.” The institutions were listed alphabetically rather than being ranked.

Texas A&M has a long record of figuring prominently in rankings focusing on high quality of education coupled with costs. Most recently Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine, in announcing its “top 100 best values” in public schools, ranked Texas A&M 18th nationally and tops in Texas. Earlier, Texas A&M placed second in a Washington Monthly survey that also includes values of research contributions and overall service to the nation.
