Fish Drill Team Wins National Competition In New Orleans

The Fish Drill Team of the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets won the national meet hosted annually by Tulane University’s NROTC Battalion. The meet attracts teams — mostly made up of upper classmen — from throughout the nation and is traditionally held as part of Mardi Gras festivities on the Friday before Fat Tuesday.

The meet includes several unit and individual events that are judged by senior enlisted Marines whose knowledge of the drill manual and drill competitions ensure a tough competition, officials note.

“I am very proud of the Fish Drill Team on their National Championship title,” said Brigadier General Joe E. Ramirez, Jr. ’79, Commandant of the Corps of Cadets. “Their hard work and dedication along with the supervision their advisors provided throughout the year, prepared them for the rigors of this competition. It is a job very well done and brings pride to Texas A&M University and the Corps of Cadets.”
